The International Law Journal, formerly known as the Journal of International Commercial Law, is proud of its accomplished alumni. The Journal prides itself on cultivating a tight-knit community of hard-working individuals with diverse interests and shared ambition. ILJ and JICL alumni have gone on to pursue careers in a wide-array of legal and non-legal professions in the Washington, D.C. area and around the world. This semester’s Alumni Spotlight features Mr. William Lowery.
William Lowery, the founding Editor-in-Chief of JICL, graduated George Mason University School of Law in 2010 and is currently an associate at Covington & Burling LLP in London. Mr. Lowery’s practice concerns energy sector disputes, with a focus on international arbitration. He also provides advice on public international law and the application of sanctions and export controls. Mr. Lowery previously worked at CMS and was recognized by the firm for his “outstanding contribution to CMS” in his first year of practice, largely for his work on the Guide to Arbitration (a summary of arbitration law in 32 jurisdictions). Mr. Lowery remains actively involved with JICL, serving on our Board of Advisors as a resource to current Journal management.
